Collection: Cora, Dori, & Stark | FUNDRAISER for Charley's K-9 Rescue
Why are there so many pit-type dogs in need?
Dogs of all breeds and sizes find themselves in need of rescue, so why does it seem like shelters and rescues are overflowing with medium-sized, short-haired, block-headed dogs?
The long-standing bias against "pit bulls" has made it difficult to find homes for dogs that appear to be a pit bull mix or similar breed. Of course, visual identification of breed is incredibly unreliable, even by veterinarians; many dogs that are labeled as "pit bulls" are actually a mix of any number of other breeds, but are lumped in as "pit-type" dogs. Because pit-type dogs have been unfairly painted as "dangerous" or "aggressive," many families are afraid to bring them home - and the majority of rental properties and even some municipalities won't allow them.
Those of us who have been lucky enough to love a pit-type dog know that they are just as loving, friendly, and deserving of a second chance as any other type of dog. Organizations like Charley's K-9 Rescue are dedicated to helping these dogs find the loving forever home that they so deserve.
20% of sales from this limited-edition collection will be donated to Charley's K-9 Rescue. Available through June 5.
