Dogs aren't disposable.

There are many ways to love and care for our furry friends. What we are able to provide to them is affected by so many things, from culture to financial status to lifestyle. Sadly, there are occasions in which someone is no longer able to care for their dog and must find them a new home - and that's okay! We can only do the best that we can with what we have, and, sometimes, rehoming is the best option for everyone involved, including the dog.

At Detezi, we strongly believe that it is important to meet people where they are at without shame or judgement; it's in the best interest of both the dogs and humans. There are occasions, though, in which it is evident that someone truly sees a dog not as a living being, but as a disposable object without feelings - and that's not okay. As a community, we may not be able to completely prevent these incidents, but we can make compassionate options like surrendering to a rescue or directly finding a loving new home as safe and accessible as possible.

Our friends at PB Proud work tirelessly to help families with pets stay together in a variety of ways, from ending breed discrimination to helping local families find accessible housing. The also work side-by-side with local rescues to break bully breeds out of local shelters that are unable to adopt out pit-type dogs due to Breed Specific Legislation.
